Sound Portraits from Bulgaria

The Smithsonian assigned us to design and produce the book Sound Portraits from Bulgaria by Martin Koenig. The book is a 12" x 12" hard cover with 144 pages, plus 2 CDs inserted in a special casing on the back.

Martin Koenig studied the music and traditional dances of the Balkans from 1966 to 1985. He shot 16 mm film, he took photographs and he made audio recordings. The book focuses on Bulgaria and it includes 137 black and white photographs and 37 songs on 2 CDs with detailed liner notes.
